PTSD

Can you ever find yourself again?

You’ve lost your life as it once was.

Ever since it happened. Something very upsetting occurred, and it changed you.

You don’t want to go to sleep. Those nightmares – the ones that surround that really upsetting experience – may return.

This is not like you.

You feel on hyper overdrive with your anxiety. Your mood is foul on most days.

Living in this frightened state doesn’t feel right.

Something is triggering you. Whenever someone mentions that name – says that word – your heart races, you freeze, you worry.

Overcome by profound sadness, you find your mind always wandering back to how the trauma made you feel. You struggle to let these thoughts go.

Over time, they take their toll – pulling you even further from your life.

You sometimes wonder whether you have PTSD…

Trauma can present differently in each person. When you experience a sudden event or change in your life, it can set off a trauma reaction, creating a “flight,” “fight,” or “freeze” response.

If your mind cannot process this upsetting news or event, it can affect you significantly.

As we work together, we’ll incorporate Dialectical Behavioral, Narrative, and Mindfulness-Based practices into our sessions. When working in therapy, we will engage in a conversation that tells your impactful stories.

We’ll begin healing by discussing the pain. We’ll cry – and we’ll get you relief.

In the process, we’ll identify the source that sets off your hyperarousal response. We’ll delay each chapter to find the core event.

That weight on your shoulders will disappear.

We’ll talk about new perspectives – different, healthier ways to understand and cope with the pain.

We’ll teach you the skills you need to manage your thoughts and feelings, and you’ll build confidence as the process unfolds.

The View from the Top

One day, you’ll reach the summit of the mountain we’ve been climbing. You’ll be able to survey just how far you’ve come and all you’ve accomplished. You’ll be able to talk about it without crying – except, perhaps, tears of joy.

You can freely exhale and savor genuine peace and calm once more.

You’ll be strong again. The nightmares will transform into pleasant dreams – new goals and aspirations.

You can look forward with hope – unburdened by the pain that once held you back.

And when you’ve fully taken in the view, you can begin the downhill journey – for you have reached the other side.

Are you ready to start your journey of healing?

We look forward to making that climb with you.
